I love to sew but also love books and dogs.
I’ve been sewing for a long time. I had a fashion design teacher in high school named Mrs. DeBow who was awesome. I took three out of four of the classes she offered and they were by far my favorite classes in high school. When we moved to Alabama I finally had my own office and sewing space, allowing me to always have my machine set up, which was a game changer.
I sew knits because that’s what I wear! My body, and frankly everyone’s bodies, change a lot. I think (though I do not have the math to back it up) that by wearing knits I am probably saving money on clothes, because they fit me if my body changes a little bit.
I teach sewing because I think people are too afraid of sewing. Many people bought sewing machines during the early 2020s and then didn’t use them. So many people said they were “scared to try to use it,” but why? I think we all, collectively, need to be less scared of things. But especially things that help us be more creative. It’s OK to be bad something, but trying is the first step!
